Toon Zone Talkback - "Dora" Going Live-Action

...What?

This is not needed at all. Not even for ratings. The only people who are going to be watching it are little kids and maybe their parents.

Nickelodeon keeps trying to drag this show further and further out. And as for your third statement, live action Dora might attract older kids-preteens to the show.

That's it,it's for ratings and money.

Do you think Nick is making as much money as they use to even off of their cowcash coral reef?Against the future which is Disney and it's unstoppable LA force?I very highly doubt it.

Hmmm... will the live action Dora speak like an ignorant American Tourist in the film too? You know, loud and slow so everyone can understand it?

I'm not turning this into a rant thread, but dammit..... when I was a kid, we had Sesame Street, Reading Rainbow, Mr. Rogers.... good, quality, not for profit kids shows. And they were fine. All we're going to get out of Dora is a generation of hyper active people who can't speak English fluidly, like a 20 year old William Shattner on too much caffeine

A Live action telefilm will just add to the too many stupid Dora projects out there.

You know... I'd almost say it would look a lot like Lazytown. All those bright colors... if I had some inkling the same production company was involved, it would look exactly like that.

Blue's Clues is pretty boring too, but it's a lot better than Dora. At least on BC the viewer can kind of attempt to use his brain to piece together the clues. I remember it being a bit more visually interesting too.

I'm no expert on kids shows. I haven't watched either BC or Dora in quite a while, but I remember Dora being the worst of the worst. I was really quite shocked by how dull it was.

Yea, I think you're right. At least her facial expression would change sometimes. It would be pretty hard for a real person NOT to be more interesting.

Still, it makes me hunger for the educational shows of yesteryear. I think kid's educational programming has been sliding violently downhill since Barney the Dinosaur reared his ugly head and headed his ugly rear on PBS. The expansion of cable based kid's shows at the time was no help either. Take it from someone who's on a muppet board. I hear the same old "Elmo sucks" rants a million times, but at least the guy behind the puppet has talent (he's one of my favorite performers, actually).

The Dora show, from what I've seen, has terrible acting. Just simply terrible. If there's one thing I cannot stand on a kid's show, it's bad acting with cheap voice actors. I can accept they don't think enough of the children they entertain with the stuff they cover, and how they cover it. But when they say, kid's don't care about great voice acting, that's a slap in the face. One of the things I praise the new Curious George cartoon about is the fact they use some pretty high end voice actors. Jim Cummings, Frank Welker, Jeff Bennet.... The show even sounds good.

So yeah, a live action one with actors may very well be an improvement.
