Toon Zone Talkback - Connery's "Sir Billi" Previewed Online

That's an impersonator. That's gotta be. My mind simply cannot accept this as fact. It's like being told that Flying Spaghetti Monsters are hovering over New Jersey. I just can't believe that there is any truth in this.

Man, I can't believe how much people are losing it over this movie. Everywhere I go, it's like people are acting like it's the end of animation as we know it. LOL! I'm sure it hardly paid a huge sum of money, and who knows? Maybe he just did it for fun and to give his grandkids something they could watch. It's hardly cutting edge, but it's hardly anything to lose sleep over.

It's him. Video of Connery talking about his involvement can be found on Youtube. I stumbled across one a few months ago.

Indeed. The world survived Sean Connery voicing a talking CGI dragon in Dragonheart, it'll survive this. The movie itself will probably come and go so quickly that few will remember it anyway. This is hardly a blot on Connery's career.

There are any number of GOOD animated projects Connery could have lent his distinctive voice to. Peter O'Toole was in Ratatoullie. Paul Newman was in Cars. Ned Beatty was in Toy Story 3. But Connery decides to lend his voice to THIS?!

Clutch Cargo was "hardly cutting edge". This makes those Pixar ripoff movies like Ratatoing look like...well, Pixar movies.

It'd be one thing if this was some random DTV, it's another thing that the studio is serious about releasing this in theaters.

This might've been barely theater-quality, like, 15 years ago, but now? It's an embarassing joke.

Jeez, you're right! I'm sorry about people who are making a big deal about this, but if this is really going to be in theaters then this will be hilarious!:p

Well, I will say that these guys have a better concept of rendering and adding textures to their CGI figures, backgrounds and the like than any of the Video Brinquedo stuff, considering that most of the Video Brinquedo is comparable to the stuff I did back in my 3D animation classes. Still feels like something I would see in a discount DVD bin, rather than paying money to see in theaters.

I can't really imagine Sean Connery being a guy that would give two hoots about animation for some reason, much less being a big critic of good or bad animation. Maybe the offer was made to him and he figured that it might be a cool experience, or that he could make a little scratch for recording his voice without ever leaving his house. For all we know, he'll probably never even see the finished product.

Is it just me, or are the characters actually animated over a pre-rendered background? I mean, the lighting looks all wrong on the characters compared to the background, and the background itself looks 2D...

I don't undestand how CGI with this level of detail can look worse than the South American Studio that makes PIXAR and Dreamworks ripoffs. You can tell by how the narrator says his lines that the plot is extremely uninteresting. They are obviously touting Sean Connery's involvement as the only way to get children under the age of 4 interested in this picture. As mentioned in the description of the trailer, "They have amazingly recruited the legend Dame Shirley Bassey to sing the opening title track", it sounds as if they were desperate to get any big name attached to the project so somebody will see it. They definatly have a task ahead of them
