Toon Zone Talkback - Best Animated Feature of 2009: "Coraline"

After the extremely questionable decision of best animated series of 2009, this is an excellent choice for movie. This year was just so tricky with a fair number of good animated films released that there's several I'd have been happy with and considering how early in '09 it came out, I excepted Coraline to be long-forgotten by a number of people.

Note: I saw Coraline for free at a special showing in November.

I'm sorry but Coraline is easily the worst animated film I seen all year and it could easily be the worst movie of the year.

Coraline, in my opinion, was trying too hard to be edgy. Any PG-rated animated film with a naked lady in it ruins it for me. The main characters were both brats and I didn't really feel for Coraline or Wybie.

Coraline was also obviously supposed to be in 3-D as well which added the cheese factor. The only thing I liked about was that it was kind of a scary movie.

You should give the award to a film with the heart of Up, the humor of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, or the animation of The Princess and the Frog.

Good to hear! Sita and this were the only remotely imaginative features this year (while Sita's even better, I still immensely enjoyed Coraline more than Meatballs or Up).

I thought it was a fun movie and a very good looking one. As far as I'm concerned, it was mostly horror and I can't remember the last time I saw a good horror movie. I liked it a lot but I didn't love it though. I did love Up on the other hand (though I was kind of indifferent on first view).
