This is the talkback thread for Bangkok International Film Fest Yanks "Persepolis" After Iran Request.

I have a hunch that the reason it was pulled was because it showed the Iranian Revolution in a negative light.

What could stop this from happening in other countries where the film will be shown?

A lack of cowardice. Apparently Iran objected before this film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival as well, but the film was shown and won a prize in the process.

The film was most likely pulled because the festival people feared for their lives (and after the Mohammad cartoon fiasco and the murder of Theo Van Gogh, who can blame them?). But I hope that other festivals are brave enough to show the film because I'd really like to see it someday (preferably on DVD instead of YouTube).
