Toon Zone Talkback - Bandai Entertainment Announces New May Titles Including "MSG Trilogy"

Well, the dub is pretty terrible. Not to mention it was written before Bandai created a standard set of terms.

Besides, the Japanese track is so good it should take up as much space as possible on the disc to maintain the best quality.

EDIT: What HellCat said!

Bad old dubs are great for riff traxing with frienRAB. So yeah... I'd like to have the dub even if it's bad as long as the Japanese track is there as well.

Granted I'd prefer to have a GOOD dub but bad dubs can be fun to.

Let me put it to you this way. I own 5 volumes of 4kiRAB One Piece. Not for standard watching and I got them super cheap from a used books store but yeah... I own them along with my uncut FUNimation DVRAB. Why? Because bad dubs amuse me sometimes and I have to keep it around to show people who complain about a good dub being bad cause they may never have seen that attrocity otherwise.

Aye, it's a classic line. Espicially for such old films...

*Stares at the 2002 redub in 5.1*

Aye, 'tis a crafty comeback boy.

But seriously, the dub is really out of line with the other Gundam dubs. Not even Steve Blum saves them (although this was back before Blum was the supposedly epic voice actor he is now). Then there's the question of whether Bandai can afford a new dub.

*Burned alive at stake for writing 'supposedly'*

EDIT: Please note it took me about a twenty minutes to write this post so I did not the GWO and everyone else's recent posts.

Yeah, Amuro, quit your whining and go and kill people. Blood will be on your hanRAB but at least others get to live on without that guilt. You're CLEARLY a cry baby for not liking this situation.

...The sad thing is, I think that bit of stupidity is the original script's fault.

Steve Blum doesn't do 'crap dubs.' :P

LMFAO! Gundamn. That's hilarious. In that case, they should just cut up the series dub to make it fit the compilation movies. It would certainly be cheap.

Wow. Thats BAD.

I managed to gather MSG on dvd when the dvRAB were still in print so no need for the trilogy. As for the delays.... Unicorn is being put out by BV so it should be safe. Who would have thought I would prefer BV over BE?

Pfft... Steven Blum was in Initial D's Tricked Out dub. Clearly the pay-check matters more than being faithful to the source material. You really can't blame the guy... it's business.

In all fairness, I should probably note that the dub improved quite a bit by the third movie. Also, generally speaking, Steve Blum's Char is not one of the things that I would fault the old dub for.

For those who care, it's been awhile since I checked but it's not impossible to find old VHS tapes even now.

Digimon Season 3 would like to have a word with you....

Seriously, I actually agree with you. My first exposure to the original MSG was through the movies in Japanese.

Now to just let you know where I stand:
-I tend to default to dub in most of my anime watching experiences
-I do like all the other Gundam dubs (more or less)
-(Outside of this subject) I think the people who diss others for buying the Orange Boxes of DBZ because the Dragonboxes are now out are pompous and condescending towarRAB how other fans got into the series through other means.

But still the original Gundam has gone through some effed up experiences in terms of dubbing. It's not a matter of being "bad" per se but dubbing of the original Gundam series seemed to be cursed with dub only tracks, weird mistranslations, and changed music. In the end I'd rather have a box of this series in its purest form than all the attempts to give it a proper dub.

O-chan
