The second half does get better in terms of the action, but it also features a lengthy interlude focused almost entirely on Tamaki's Power Rangers anime, which was easily my least favorite part of the series (Yuji being painfully aware of how ridiculous Tamaki looks wasn't enough to compensate).
As with a lot of stuff coming out these days, I liked it enough to want to see more in a second season, but not enough to buy the first season and possibly end up with that being all we get.
