This is the talkback thread for "Bakugan" I Sacrifice The Instruction Manual to Summon The Paper Clip Helper Guy!.

Is Yu-Gi-Oh! the only good TCG anime we're ever gonna get?

Yeah probably. I mean, all the other one's just seem to fail or not make sense or something.

(Though, the teen-targeted "Kiba" was supposed to be a TCG I think and that was a very good show)This was my favorite line.

I found that if you just roll with it (pun intended) you kinda get the gist of the game as the show advance.

Though I gotta agree that the show could have used an entry point character, someone who DIDN'T know the rules and had to be taught. That was a really big mess on the part of the writers, without such a character explaining the rules would have felt weird too.

With just THAT little detail the whole show would have raised in quality like 2 fold because honestly it has some pretty decent characters and storylines. They just should have used the early episodes to explain the fracking game.

It doesn't help that apparently the TCG was created AFTER the anime (if Wikipedia is to be believed), which causes the same kind of problems that hampered Duelist Kingdom in Yu-Gi-Oh.

The TCG is really basic too. I'd say the show has more complex and interesting rules. At least aiming at giant carRAB is easier XD

I would also say yes since all of the other anime series based on a TCG, as garfield15 mentioned, are either forgettable or the game doesn't make enough sense.

This was an enjoyable review to read and I agree with a lot of your points, Duke. I still remeraber the headache I got from watching the first two episodes after the Darkrai movie. I understand more of the basic stuff of the game, but I still wouldn't be able to play it myself. The rules become a bit clearer later on in the series, but that doesn't help those watching from the start.

I agree that if they had someone who was new to the game and needed to understand the rules, it would have made the show at least a bit better. At least that way, people would be able to follow the show's storyline without feeling so confused as to what the rules are. I think that series is fun to watch for the heck of it and the story became much better during the later stages of season one. Still, I think that they could have done a bit more to improve the storyline and the characters, mainly with doing a better job at explaining the rules of the game early on.

I know that people here hate the show, and I also am not too fond of the whole thing myself. The animation is bad for the most part(especially since the show's animated by TMS Entertainment, the guys that gave us Akira, Most of Disney's and DIC's stuff in the 80's and Numerous other Anime) and they reuse the same VA's for nearly every single character (Which is very sad)

I'm not say that neither, animation company or Voice actors are to blame for the lameness, but Sega and the American Distribution company are the ones to blame. I actually only taped this show because of the females in the series for the most part.

And in all honesty, I seriously dislike YGO. Both anime and card game.
