Toon Zone Talkback - "Alvin" Triggers New Wave of CGI/Live-Action Hybrid Movies

I've been wondering whether, as of late, actors feel comfortable playing second fiddle to animated characters.

Tom & Jerry have a strong chance of being botched up here. It could very well turn into Cat & Mouse: The Movie. However, maybe this time they'll actually STAR in their own movie with their own plot. And keep their dialogue slim to nil (unless they want to throw in Spike & Tyke).

The Jetsons is an odd one. Will it be live-action actors with a CGI Astro and Rosie? I also feel the film will be a largely green-screened affair with all the gadgets, spaceships, and houses suspended from the ground.

They did that in the Flintstones movie long before Alvin and the Chipmunks. They had actors, puppets, and CGI all together. One scene that blended actors and CGI is the conga line when Dino was in front of Jean Vander-Pyl, the voice of Wilma.

It does feel kind of weird to think about a CGI/Live-Action hybrid movies based on cartoons, but they could work out. It all depends on the quality of the writing and how close they remain to the original cartoon source. If they gave the same treatment to The Jetsons movie as they basically did with The Flintstones, since that's usually one of the few live-action based on cartoon movies that I've heard people liking, then it has a good chance to work out. If they pull out an Underdog, then it would probably fall down quite fast. I do agree that a CGI/live action hybrid movie on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be kind of cool to see.

WOOOOOOOO! My first article was the one about the new George Liquor cartoon! I was surprised that nobody had sent in this article yet. We were discussing it on the Yogi Bear remake topic.
