So it's... a mixed breed? :p

This sounds like another case of a good plot executed poorly. Neither me nor my little sisters were interested from the promos, so agreed @Dr. Pepper, we'll just probably Redbox it for one day for a dollar.

Often, the omegas in a real wolf pack are the ones who take care of pack morale. While they're at the bottom of the totem pole, being the last to eat and the first one to be dominated by other pack members, they're also often the ones who initiate play activities and will be the baby sitter while the pack is out on the hunt. They're also the wolves most likely to be forced out of the pack, and therefore also the most likely to start their own wolf packs where they get to be the alphas. I'm not sure whether they meant to or not, but it sounds like the makers of the film weren't that far off from real wolfpack group dynamics.

Doesn't make this movie sound like it sucks any less, of course, but I thought that was a little interesting.

The first time I saw the trailer for this, I thought the characters were going to tell me to turn off my cellphone. It was so contrived, it had to be fake, right? Guess not.

At least, I see my suspicions were on point for the most part.

I'm honestly not that surprised.

The trailers made it look cliche, as nothing more than a summer kid flick intended to rake in some cash. Just the preview animation had some terrible scenes: the animators either didn't have the budget to make them move anything like a real wolf or didn't put much research into it. And the characters felt annoying and stereotypical.

Of course I wasn't expecting it to be at a Pixar level, but lacking those resources has never kept other studios from making great films. The basic storyline seems to always attract some amount of people, but not enough studios are able to work with it well. The basic plot has already been overdone, and a film needs special care to differentiate it from the other contrived works, while still being appealing and fun. Obviously, it seems Alpha and Omega failed.

Am I the only person who really loved this movie? I actually can't wait to buy it on DVD now. I know that we're all entitled to our own opinions but when I love a movie a lot of people seem to hate I can't help but feel strange.

Well, it seemed to be a mixture of things. The drawing, the characters design, and to tell you the truth did you ever watch an animated movie with animals in it and you seem to have a crush on the animal in question to the point where you are making up boyfriends/girlfriends/pups for said couple. There was this one wolf in there named Lilly. I think that's what kinda put me over the top. So it may not be the movie itself as much as it's certain characters in the movie that makes you love the movie.

And I love movies with Justin Long in them. Other then all that I can't really seem to think of why I love it. I just do. Some things are like that with me. Where I don't really know one reason why I love or hate something I just do.

Yeah, looks too much like Balto. Though I didn't like the reviewer saying 'I don't like how talking animals know pop-culture references they shouldn't know about'. But I haven't it, so...

not to mention the Fox and the Hound which has wild animals in it..

personally was only fond of Fox and Princess myself.. oh and I think he did that Muhammad movie a while back too. never saw it though.. like many other people :p

You know that "Animated Movie" thread that was around a long while back?

Now that I think about it, I believe, with Alpha and Omega, the project actually came to fruition.

I just saw the movie and I thought it was ok. The animation was ok and the story would have been better if they did not try to throw in stupid humor during some dramatic scenes. Also the birds were very annoying. DX

Honestly, the designs actually look pretty good. I could say it feels like watching an anime cel-shaded movie, but it's just the wolves.

Also, I heard that this movie has a lot of innuendo, yet this movie is rated G. Smooth, censors. :p

However, seriously, Lionsgate should not make more animated movies, with a resume such as Battle For Terra (which flopped badly, but looks pretty interesting) and Happily N'ever After (which is a flop by itself), maybe Lionsgate should stick for movies in the older audience.

I thought the characters were nice looking too, but the animation is terrible if the commercials are indication.

Actually PG, but still heard that the innuendos are a bit strong for a kid flick
