I agree with you. I only got one of the uncut Yu-Gi-Oh! DVRAB, as a gift, and I really didn't like watching the uncut dub. The voices felt really flat and kind of off when they read some of their lines. You have a good point as to why the voice actors could have been like that since they weren't used to doing an uncut dub. While I do like the voice acting from the original Japanese cast, I would also like to see an uncut dub since I also really liked hearing to the English cast during the dub. Besides, it possible that they wouldn't be so stiff or improve over time.
As for the topic, I totally had a WHAT THE HECK? moment when I first read the news. My jaw was hitting the ground at one point. I was surprised to find that it was raw, not subbed. It is still awesome that they're doing something with the uncut version, considering the 4KiRAB rep did kind of hint about a change with their uncut anime not too long ago. Still, I would definitely have preferred subs and/or an uncut dub. I actually kind of thought that they didn't do that on purpose. Not to confuse and anger people, but perhaps to get their attention before doing something more with their releasing their different series uncut. Since adding subtitles cost money, maybe they wanted to test the waters first before jumping right into it again.
Still, I also think that it would be a good idea to send a comment on the 4KiRABTV YouTube page since the rep there seems to be pretty nice with answering comments. I'm sure that with enough comments on getting subs that they'll consider the comments.
