I honestly don't think it's fair for Family Guy of all shows, to be nominated in a non-animation category. How they managed to get that is beyond me.
 
Even with the show's problems now, it scored a Best Comedy Series nomination?

That tears it. If Up isn't one of the nominees for Best Picture at next year's Oscars, someone has a fudgeton of explaining to do.
 
First of all, Outstanding Comedy Series is not a non-animation category. It's just that, until this year, no studio had ever campaigned to nominate their animated shows in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. Comedy isn't limited to live-action, and it's about time the Television Academy recognized an animated series in the highest comedy award in television in the modern era. The last animated comedy to earn a nomination was The Flintstones in 1961.

Of course, Fox should have pushed The Simpsons many moons ago and 30 Rock's going to win, but I digress. It's still a very significant milestone, and I applaud Seth and company for earning that nomination, and I wish them luck.
 
Seriously, I hope it loses to another show so Seth can finally wake up and improve the writing. This season doesn't deserve an Emmy. Had it been from the first three, I wouldn't mind.

American Dad is so underrated. Their season was excellent, yet the nod goes to a season of mediocrity. Oh well. at least it got a nod.


Seriously, I think a change of voters in the Emmys should be done. Shows that really deserve an Emmy aren't getting one because lazy voters just latch on to the most known name instead of actually making an effort to nominate shows that really deserve it.
 
Why Family Guy's dead baby comedy is up there with shows like 30 Rock and The Office is beyond me. 30 Rock is going to win anyway, but I don't think they deserve this nomination.
 
I hope "1600 Candles" wins the best animated program award. Granted, that's by default, since it's the only episode in the batch that I saw, but I remember it being pretty funny. "Can we have ONE meal without someone flashing their genitalia?"
 
The last season of Family Guy was pretty good, so it's nice to see it nominated there. It probably won't win though. :sweat:
 
It'll probably be about 10 years before Family Guy fans will be embarrased they ever liked the show, and those who still like it will be just be considered "nostalgiac". Sort of in the same line as those 70's and 80's cartoons some people still hold on to.
 
I resent that. I really do, especially since it's coming from someone who (with about 3 exceptions) admits that he hates EVERYTHING that's been made since the golden age of animation ended.

I'm so sick of the relentless Family Guy hate here. I really am. Between this and the Spongebob hate I don't feel welcome to express my enjoyment of either show anymore. And that's sad.
 
Let's stop the hate. Let's just be happy that an animated show got nominated in the general comedy category. Is it the best show to be nominated? Not exactly. But it's better than nothing.
 
"The Emmys SUCK! They never pay attention to animation!"

"But look! They nominated an animated series for Best Comedy!"

"That doesn't count! It's Family Guy!"

Guys, really. Look at the positive side. They even expanded the voice-over category this year.
 
Well all the Outstanding Animated Programs were expected. Most of the list was expected, except for Family Guy as Comedy. I'm not hating on it, I'm just saying I think there are better comedy shows...
 
If they were nominated for I Dream of Jesus or Play it Again, Brian, than I think they deserved the nod. Two of the better episodes in a long time.
 
I'm glad that Foster's Destination Imagination got a nomination. It's nice to see that it was able to earn it since it was a really great special. It would be even better if it won the Emmy, but it's honorable enough to just get nominated.
 
Yep, after all, this could be the gateway to other animated shows being in the top spot for comedies instead of being exiled to their own categories.

To me it's hard to pick what episodes I want to win, because they all rock in the categories they were nominated.
