Well, another year went by, and we got to choose the best of it. 2008 offered many good shows, new and old, as well as some fantastic theatrical releases, but which were the best in the eyes of Toon Zone?

Well, as you can see, the movie winners were pretty much swept by Wall-E, only losing the voice acting and song awards it was nominated for, giving the chance to Kung-Fu Panda and Futurama win their only awards.

Congratulations to Foster's as well for winning best made-for-TV movie, in what's likely the last award it will get here, unless they release a truly amazing DVD.

The TV awards were almost swept entirely by Avatar, whose series came to an end this year. Winning almost every category it was nominated for, Avatar sure went out with a bang.

Total Drama Island was also a huge hit among the boards, so it's no surprise that it won the two awards it was nominated for. Spectacular Spider-Man proved it was well recieved by snatching two awards, and finally, we have Chowder and Death Note who didn't walk home empty handed.

And final honors go to Homestar Runner and Batman, who snatched the two "honorary" awards of the year.

And like every award ceremony out there, we have the big losers of the night in Secret Saturdays, Flapjack and Bolt, which despite getting good reception on the boards and having plenty of nominations, didn't manage to win anything. Sorry guys, maybe next year.

And that's it for this year's awards. Thanks to everyone who participated and made this possible, and here's hoping 2009 is even a better year so we can do this again.

Well, Spidey didn't pull out a Best Series win, but it got points for Blum's FANTASTIC Green Goblin and its kickass theme song, so I'm not too disappointed. Congrats to Avatar, though. I kinda regret that I stopped watching back at the start. :sweat:
 
Wow, amazing job for TDI, beating other shows such as Gurren Lagann, Avatar and Death Note!

I hope the GL fans aren't mad about this, though...
 
Ol' Norman Osborn and dear Princess Azula definately deserve the win, due to Steve Blum and Grey DeLisle's amazing evil/insane voicework on them. :evil:

And yay for Total Drama Island as well. I enjoyed the show much more than I thought; it's mainly alot of funny humor and reality TV spoofing, but still manages to keep a level of heart about it.

I also agree with Avatar and Death Note winning Best Show & Best Writing in Show respectively. Spectacular Spider-Man is good, but's it's still just got one season thusfar, so it's probably too soon to start giving it larger awards. I can't wait for season two to unfold and see what happens then....

The only upset for me I suppose is that Bolt didn't get the Best Writing in Movie award. I felt it deserved it more than the rather overrated Wall-E, which was to me more of an artistic film than one to which writing was a key factor, but that's just me, I suppose.
 
Eh, I was pulling for a Spectacular Spider-Man win for Best Show, since King of the Hill didn't make it through, and Avatar, already overrated enough as it is, made a pretty subpar third season, despite holding a decent finale.

Good for TDI for winning the Foreign Award, though. CN really needs something like that right now; a clever show with a round cast of cliche-busting characters that also happens to be a BIG hit for CN. I'd also of been happy if Death Note won, too.

Movie-wise, I'm pretty happy, mostly since the only animated films I saw this year were WALL*E and Kung-Fu Panda, anyway. Both are good movies, but WALL*E is definitely the more award-winning movie. Still say segregating film and TV series VAs is pointless, however, but that's just me.
 
Oh shoot, I forgot to vote. Oh well, I'm pretty satisfied with the results seeing Wall-E doing so well. It really does deserve it.
