I want to get off this because of all the horror stories I am reading about it becoming extremely addictive and the fact you can't simply stop it. I have only taken it for a month, not every day. How long do I need to be on it to be physically addicted? I am also on Effexor which has started working, and when I use to take Effexor for a duration of about 6 years, I never had any anxiety whatsoever. If I do wean off of .5mg, any idea what the schedule should be?

You say that you have been taking it off and on for the last month. If you haven't felt the need to take it daily and were only taking the 1/2 mg when needed then you should be alright. You also say that the effexxor is begining to kick in now so you probaly won't feel the anxiousness like you were. Just keep the ativan with you for the feeling of the just in case which should keep your anxiety at bay.

ok, for the past week I have been taking anywhere from .25 mg to .5 mg per day. It seems it has increased depression a tad the following morning or late at night as I have read this is a common side effect (from the ativan "hangover" people describe). My goal is to not take Ativan at all, I've read enough from actual patients and users of it that over the long term it can become quite dangerous in terms of addiction and if you stop taking it suddenly.

It's been a long year, trying my best to get back to taking only Effexor, exercise, and a good diet because that is when I felt alive and like myself with no depression and no anxiety at all.
