they say to keep her in her back facing car seat untill she's 20 lbs or 1 years old.my daughters 9 months and 18 lbs but she's long so she kind of hangs off her carseat that she's had since she was born.should i just go ahead and upgrade it?is it safe?

Actually, you are suppossed to keep your child rear facing until they are 20 pounds **AND** 1 year of age. That being said, it would not be safe to turn your daughter front-facing yet. You might want to look into a convertible car seat, one that is both rear and front facing, something that will accomodate your daughter's long legs until she's old enough to be front-facing.

from what i have read and been told go ahead and move her to a big face car seat. she will enjoy the switch and be safe. it is not safe to keep a child in a car seat way to small. find a 5point car seat and its ok to face the other way.

20pounds and legs to long that hit the back of the seat. would be a lot safer facing. Talk to your childs dr.
