Tongue Piercing help

I got my tongue pierced last week. I used Listerine at first because I didn't realize the alcohol was bad for your piercing. I switched to Biotene and sometimes I use salt water.

My tongue has turned white. Like..when your taste buds turn white sometimes. Well they're white and they have been for a few days and I want to know what people think. I went to the piercer and he said it was from the Listerine but it hasn't gone away.

I was thinking it might be Thrush but I read up on it and its not the same. It's supposed to have patches and when you brush your tongue they bleed but thats not whats happening.

White tongue is usually just accumulated dead skin cells from a dried out tongue. Folks with sleep apnea and smokers get white tongue too. Your's could be from the alcohol in the listerine but also from the lack of normal saliva, tendency to mouth breath with the new piercing, etc.

Make sure you stay well hydrated, don't smoke and see a doc if it lasts more than two weeks.

Hey..

I've had my toungue pierced around about 9 - 10 months now!
Firstly the piercer should advise you that you should either use sea salt
with warm water after everything you eat or diluted mouth wash.

You shouldn't use mouth wash that hasn't been diluted because this is
what happens.

All you can do is rinse your mouth with sea salt warm water after everything
you have to eat each day plus once when you wake up & then before you go
to sleep. Do this for a week if it doesn't inprove go & see your gp.

Also try not to play with your bar because it irritates it & because it hasn't healed
it can make the wound more infected.

Hope this helps if you need any more help just let me know & i'll try my best.

xx
