My dad got the call that he's scheduled for 8am fusion tomorrow (wednesday!) He's very excited but i'm nervous....

Fusing L2-5.

I'm hoping he does well with this and it takes away his pain.

How long are you typically in the hospital after this?

Hospital stay varies on the type of surgery, approach (method) and the person's age. The doctor should be able to give an estimate right after the surgery as to how long he'll be in the hospital.

For my L4/L5 fusion I was in the hospital 4 days. Some people shorter some longer just depenRAB on how quickly he works to get himself out. He will need to be able to walk by himself, with the aid of a cane or walker. He will also need to be able to use the restroom, and basic care of himself. Good Luck to your Dad. I hope he has painfree days ahead.

Wishing your father the best of luck. And tell him to stay in the hospital as long as he feels he neeRAB to - that's major surgery and he will need plenty of recovery time.

He is in my thoughts! Keep us posted on how he's doing!
