my daughter is a tomboy, even has had her hair cut very short like a boys hair style, as my sister was a tomboy, so i was not shocked to hear this request, so i complied, as it made her happy.
she love wearing her hoodies and when ever she has a hooded top on, 99% of the time she likes wearing the hood up, in the home or outside, she likes them and she tells me she wears them because she thinks its cool to do so.
I have no issues with this
.how ever
it was pointed out by some busy body, who stated it was unsettling appearance, implying it is not normal for a girl aged 12years at the time ( now 13yrs ) to want to be a tomboy and have her hair cut in a boys hair style, but then accused my child of being ashamed of her new hair style by hiding it with the hood, but the busy body refused to accept the fact the hood is up for a fashion statement in my child's eyes,
my child is out going friendly mixes very well with her other home educated friends and her school registered friends and her many cousins etc,
how ever, she has been accused of being too grown up eg thinks for herself and makes educated/factual/ informed decisions in life for herself, over confident not in the gobby way just intelligent and confident,
but said as a complaint as if its a bad thing by the busy body's boss, who seem to have it in for us.
does any adults/teen wear hooded tops and wear the hoods up, in doors as well as out or been a tomboy or maybe do/done both and how has this affected you.
if you don't wear them in the home or school would you if you could?
do you agree i am doing the right thing letting my child express herself and experiment with her own style and clothes, and its quite normal for kids to do this. or do you believe its wrong to allow her to find her own style.
this busy body and her boss trying to say its wrong and accusing me of emotionally abusing her by allowing her to express herself, in this way. but i believe the emotional abuse would be to force her to dress and act like other teens her age against her freedom of choice.
ps my daughter doesn't smoke/drink/clubbing/doesn't wish to have a boyfriend nor does she steals or has an asbo lol she just a girl who experimenting with her appearance.
is this abnormal for a teen? i don't think it is, but i like other peoples opinion for this debate,
i be very interested on your views
thanks
