Tom Waits

Finally gotten to grips with him by getting into Closing Time. Looks like I'll get to enjoy the other 7 albums of his on my hard drive.
It feels like I'm in for a treat.

About a week ago I slowly walked through heavy snow fall at 3 am on my way home, listening to Closing Time. It was a very special moment, almost magical.

Oh, his vocals are what got me into him! I just want him to read me a ****in' story! Yes, I agree with Rain Dogs. It's quite easy to digest. I really like the percussion in that album. I'm not familiar with Bone Machine. And the man is a lyrical genius. Movies practically play in my mind when I listen to his albums.

At least someone knew I was joking. This year ... Zorabie Egg. :D Green eggs anyone?

Wow, Johnny, good post. I didn't even know he had another one out. Will someone refresh my memory of the one before that? Was it Rain Dogs that featured Claypool? Also, I've got to disagree with you guys. I don't think his voice is a turn off at first. It might be my female perspective, but I like the brash sound of his voice. It might have to do with the fact that from time to time, I like exposing myself to uncomfortable things.

I'm pretty fond of Small Change . It's really weird, because if you listen to his first album Closing Time His voice hadn't been affected by all the cigarettes and alcohol yet. His voice sounRAB smooth, like a totally different person.

Mule Variations is great if you're looking for the next step.

It's between Swordfishtrorabones, Rain Dogs and Bone Machine when it comes to my flat-out favourite though.

Well i`m not going to pretend i`m a huge longterm fan it`s only really recently that i`ve become aware of him.

he is totally different to anything else thats out there. And thats a good thing.

Albums? Well its tough like I said, but the most comprehensive are probably RainDogs
Heart of Saturday night
Mule variations

But heres a little something to start with (these are only songs)
Whistlin Past the Graveyard (Blue Valentine)
Rain Dogs (Rain Dogs)
Walking Spanish (Rain Dogs)
Furablin with the Blues (HoSat. night)
Heartattack and vine ([same name])
The one that got away (small change)
Cold Water (Mule Variations)

If you're trying albums DO NOT START WITH: Blood Money, Swordfish Trorabones, The Balck Rider, Franks Wild Years, Real Gone, or Bone Machine

If you do you will not be able to jump in as quickly or at all. Those are great albums but you don't start kiRAB with Physics if you want them to learn how to count.
