I really enjoyed The Terminal. I thought Tom was really good in that role.

YGM is such a good romcom.

I'd always thought that could be kinda cool too.

The scene where he finds out what happened back home is so heartbreaking. :(

cherrios, everything you had to say about Tom was so amazing. ITA! That's been one of my favorite things about him, how he can become each character he portrays equally well - whether it be comedic or dramatic. He's so dedicated in everything he does, and it definitely shines through on-screen.

There's so many of his roles I love, comedic and dramatic. I really loved his role in The Green Mile - I to this day, think he was robbed of an Oscar for that one.

I think Colin is definitely on his way to being great. I just hope people see him for him, and not who his father is. I know children of big-name celebs can run in to that problem.

Courtney, very nice choices. :) I re-watched Forrest Gump the other day. I love him in Big. Only Tom could capture the innocence as genuinely as he did in that role, being an adult.

Oh, I also think Tom makes a wonderful romantic comedy lead. He's definitely that guy you just want to get the girl in the end.

ETA: I prettied up our OP a bit...hope you guys like it. :)

I don't really have a favorite because there are so many great ones. I do love him in Philadelphia because it took such courage to take that role. From what I've been told, not so many actors were willing to play a gay man dying of AIDS. And yet Tom took the character and made him human with grace. The movie felt more like we were looking in on his final days of his life more than a movie. It to this day is still one of my favorite movies.

I love that he can do movies like Philadelphia and Forrest Gump and be amazing in those. Yet star in movies like the Toy Story series and Big and work in those too. Not many actors can do a wide range of parts, yet Tom Hanks always seems willing to try everything. And it looks like his son Colin will be just as great as his father.

I thought it was great... I always wondered what it was like to "live" in the airport.

The Terminal was a movie I didn't care for too much ... but it was based on the ending :( not the acting.

I adore TH movies -- he's a phenomenal actor. Loved You've Got Mail the most :sigh:.

Sadia, thanks for the latest info, and welcome to the thread. I'm so stoked for TS3 as well! :yay:

I think Tom Hanks is one of the greatest contemporary class-acts we've got.

Lennie, it's nice to see you in here too. :D Mine as well.

Would you guys like to be added to the list? :)

I'm with both of you...he does so much with so little. And the fact he's such a big-name star now, it hasn't ruined him at all. He's still just as amazing as he ever was.

Do you guys have an all-time favorite Hanks' role?

I loved him in Sleepless and Seattle, just to hear him the grief in his voice over loosing his wife. And then through out the movie he starts to heal and fall in love and you can tell in his voice. I'm always really impressed with an actor when he does subtle things with his voice, or eyes, or how he holds himself.

Oh, I'm glad you also liked The Terminal, since most seemed to not have liked that one as much as some of his others.

I so agree what you say about Tom/Meg's pairing, i love them in Sleepless In Seattle - its one of my fave movies

And Mr Tom Hanks is one of my fave actor ever, he's no1 IMO :)

Oh, I know. Tom portrayed that scene so well. You felt like he was a scared little boy. When he curls up on the bed and starts crying for his mom, awwww, he kills me with that. He's just so good!
