As he's the eldest and has been in the limelight for a long time, I don't think it's as bad as it would be if he were younger than his brothers.

As for him remaining grounded and not spoilt by adulation - he may not be at the top much longer because, apparently, he is already at the ideal height and may be growing too fast.

He suffered bullying at school a few years ago (threats to break his legs, did I hear?). I really admire him, how the heck he fits it all in I don't know - he must be a very intelligent young man as well as a talented sportsman.

Ah I see it's a programme About Tom not him in the games. (But interesting none the less)

Does anyone know how he is doing/has done in the games?

Good documentary though. Only caught about 30 mins of it. Just shows what you have to go through and sacrifice in order to be an Olympic standard athlete. Certainly puts the Wayne Rooneys and Beckhams and their millions in perspective.
 
I'm in my 60's and homosexuality wasn't declassified until the 1960's. The reason gay women weren't persecuted also, was that Queen Victoria couldn't believe, I quote 'One woman would do that to another'

When I started nursing, abortion was still illegal and I've nursed a few people who were lucky following a back street abortion and didn't die... almost bled to death though. The 1967 abortion act ( making it legal) was implemented in 1969 and we all breathed a sigh of relief.
 
I knew his father was unwell. I hope the focus isn't going to be just on his father though. I hope it isn't going to be depressing. Maybe I should watch the rescue of the miners instead.
 
Yes indeed. I wonder to whether his brothers go to private school to? It still can't be easy for his brothers to be overshadowed.

Any way, congrats must go to Tom. As you say, a very bright, nice young man.
