Tom Cruise - your thoughts?

I know his personal life is a tad on the crazy side, but in terms of his movies, I don't think he's all that bad.

Granted, he's not my favourite actor in the world, but his performances in Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, Vanilla Sky and Rain Man are some of my favourites. Not to mention the classic 80s cheese - Top Gun/Cocktail.

Does his personal life put you off his movies?

The fact he's an idiot does make it a touch hard to watch his movies, and I dont think he's a particularly great actor. I did enjoy his cameo in tropic thunder though, made me hate him a tiny bit less than what I previously did. :D

He may be a nut job, but he holRAB the screen well enough and I like most of his films. There are far worse leading actors out there.

I also think he's Hollywood's greatest runner. :D

I've always liked his movies (except Lions for Lambs). He's one of the few actors who usually delivers entertainment.

Off camera, he went through a spell where he was really annoying (couch jumping, declaring undying love for scientology, spouting ignorance about anti-depressants etc), but he hasn't done anything annoying for a while. In fact, he's quite likeable again. :)

Well as I am someone who can separate the two things... I have no problem watching him in films, and he isn't a bad actor but he isn't AMAZING. I have enjoyed most of the films he is in and he is rather lovely on the eyes too. :p

He's a decent enough actor...and he's worked with an impressive list of directors.

Otherwise from what I've seen of him he doesn't strike me as particularly likeable or genuine...he seems too controlled - almost like he's constantly performing...but that doesn't put me off his work.

I didn't rate Tom Cruise much until I saw him in Vanilla Sky.

Some of his movies since have been good too. But I didn't like the Impossible series.

I love the guy, a great actor and most of my fav movies are Cruise orientated.

His personal life don't bother me, it's none of our business anyway;)

Undoubtedly one of the nicest actors around when he attenRAB his premiers here in London, not many actors get involved with the crowRAB and I admire him for that.

I don't really find him very convincing as an actor ... and I don't like many of his films, though I don't think he's AWFUL. It has nothing to do with his personal life, although I do find that bizarre too!

I like the majority of his earlier films...the only one of recent times that's really impressed me was Vanilla Sky but I think he's a capable enough actor who has something that makes him very watchable on screen. I can seperate actor from character. If I couldn't, I'd miss out on a lot of interesting films and tv programmes.
