Tom Cruise? NO!!

I thought he was good in Collateral and reasonable in a few others like Magnolia and Interview With The Vampire, but I can't say I'm any sort fan. Besides he's another Scientology freak which makes it kind of difficult to take him seriously as a human being - anyone see that Oprah interview? Weirdo...

Run Katie run...

Mmm... not sure I'd agree. Am no big fan of his, but I think when he's playing against type he's pretty good - MAGNOLIA, COLLATERAL, INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE etc...

I think the main point here is that many people dislike him or his movies because of his actions or attitude AWAY from the screen. As I said, I think his box office potential (WotW was his 5th or 6th film in a row to have grossed over a $100 million.) and his roles have proved he is a good actor, it's just that people find it hard to dissasociate their dislike of Tom Cruise, from a film or character he plays.
BTW, the people that say he's ugly, I don't really have a stand on it, but as far as I knew most ladies find him pretty hot. Again maybe everything else has affected that too.

I think he's OK. He's been in a lot of my favourite films, even though I wouldn't say he's one of my favourite actors, just happened to be in some of my favourite films. Don't really like or dislike him, he's just alright I think.

I find theres something really dislikeable about him.I'm not sure if it's his smug face or attitude or just his acting.

I've seen him in Interview with a vampire where he was not bad, but not great. Collateral I think he's overated, again not bad but not great. He was outshined by Jamie Foxx imo I wasn't interested in cruises character even though usually I love the villain in movies.

I can't believe how overrated he was for Jerry Maguire, firstly I didn't think the film was as great everyone makes out it was totally mediocre, He was also overshadowed by Cuba Gooding Jnr by a mile.

I guess I just don't connect with any of the characters he plays that ive seen, besides they guy is extremely creepy. He's a better actor than Ben Affleck though, ill give him that.

I agree, his movies sucks big time. The only thing thats keeping him alive in hollywood is his good looks, and thats it. I just think his acting sucks.

I find that with Drew, even though she's starred in some complete and utter rubbish films, you can't help but like her character in the movie atleast.

Liked Tom Cruise in a few films, but nothing special, don't rate him as a person either.

But how is he playing "Tom Cruise"? Surely that would mean everything is either biographical on him, or he takes his personal life into work with him on every set and uses it in every character. His characters are not, as some people NOT ME perceive him as, a Scientologist, attention demanding, cradle snatching, publicity hungry, gay guy. If that were the case in all him movies then you would be right. You obviously haven't watched enough of his movies to form a judgement. If you're saying all his roles are the same you've probably only seem his romcoms like Cocktail and Jerry Maguire.

You can't compare the role he played in Born On The 4th July to the role of Jerry Maguire. Two completely different roles.

What I meant was that I have never once been able to see him as the character he's meant to be portraying. He always seems like 'Tom Cruiser, Actor', rather than the person he's playing. It's not something you can necessarily put into worRAB. When you see an actor on screen you simply need to believe they are someone they are not, for the film to actually work. Good actors do this effortlessly. But with Tom Cruise, I've never believed in any character he has portrayed.

Sorry

What ladies are those? I don't know anyone that finRAB the vertically challenged weirdo hot. Even before he went off on his mad clam rampage.

The only film I've been truely impressed with him in was Interview with the Vampire. Other than that he's just been very average.

His enormous ego and his 'I'm right, everyone else is wrong' attitude seems to be actually harming his career. A lot of people are turned off of him as an actor because they can't separate it from how he is in real life. If he doesn't curb it a bit I can really see his career fading away.

Well I'm one of them. Hes not even THAT short - he's 5'8'' - short for a man yes, but not dwarf like short, and certainly not "vertically challenged". I think he's gorgeous, when you think he's 43 now I think.
