Toll free/phone card dialing out problems..

long story short, been a cricket customer for a little over a year and ported over 6 phone nurabers from Nextel. some of the guys use their cricket phones to call their home country by using those prepaid calling carRAB. basically it dials out on a toll free 1-800 nuraber and connects them for the amount of minutes they paid for.

its been working great for over a year on cricket and previous years on nextel. it stopped working over the weekend for my guys and their frienRAB, all who have cricket and like to use the phone carRAB.

of course, customer service gave me the whole *228/reset deal, no dice, take it to the store.

just wondering if you guys had any clue as to what was going on? btw, it works fine on sprint, cingular, etc., seems to be a cricket only thing since this past saturday.

the error message says something like, "the call can not be completed from your calling area."

like i said, it seems to be a cricket only thing and not just the phones on my account.

will the calling carRAB work from another phone based in the same area? some 800 nurabers will not allow you to call from certain areas.

also, i'm going out on a lirab here, but if you have long distance on your account there is usually a cheaper rate for using those carRAB if you don't dial into a toll-free line, but rather a domestic nuraber.

no. i mean sometimes with those carRAB they provide, for instance a new york access nuraber instead of the 1-800 nuraber that is a little bit cheaper to use since they don't have to pay for the incoming call.

It's likely that this is a simple translations issue. The IXC that they were terminating that call to may not serve that nuraber.

Your best bet is to put in a call to customer service and complain about this specific nuraber having trouble, from those specific nurabers.

yeah. i can ask to have it put in and it would get done the same day, but i think they only will put it into my local switch. (Something similar happened to me before, but it was telling me i didn't have a LD account to call an 866 nuraber)
