I'm surprised that there isn't a talkback thread for this. Well, here goes. Replacing Eden Of The East in the noitaminA slot on Fuji TV is Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, the newest series from Bones and Kinema Citrus (both worked on the Eureka Seven movie). Using the 70% or higher possibility that a 7.0 magnitude earthquake will hit Tokyo within the next 30 years, Bones and Kinema decided to create an accurate representation of what would happen if an 8.0 earthquake hit the area. The plot will focus on Mirai, a middle school freshman girl visiting a robot exhibition on Tokyo's artificial Odaiba island with her brother Yutaka at the start of summer break. Things change when the 8.0 earthquake hits, destroying Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge while changing the lanRABcape of Tokyo. With the help of a deliverywoman named Mari that they meet on the island, Mirai and Yutaka strive to get back to their home in western Tokyo's Setagaya district.

Well let's just look up some information on this newfangled show here and...

(ReaRAB "Producers: BONES") Why yes, I will watch every single episode of this.

Was a little boring at first but definitely realistic. The sting at the end "Tokyo was destroyed by an earthquake (episode finishes)" was creepy as heck.
 
I wonder what kind of time frame the show takes place in. A few days maybe?

Although it would be cool if they had taken a page out of 24's book and it was in a realtime.

Although for an anime guess that would only be about 12/13 hours unless it was two seasons.
 
Hmm. Good start. The first episode comes off as a prologue of sorts. It's just showing off the everyday life and introducing us to our protagonist, who isn't satisfied with her family life and is apathetic about how life is going...and clearly the Tokyo earthquake is going to change everything and hopefully trigger some necessary character development.

This is an awesome concept for a series, I have to say.
 
I watched the first two episodes and while I wasn't blown away, it's an interesting enough concept to keep me interested. Mirai rather grates on my nerves (the cake is the wrong shape, life sucks), but seeing her desperation to find her little brother, I'm hopeful for her character development. Yuuki is adorable and I like Mari a lot.

Ah. A powerful ending, then? Trending positive or negative?

I really want this to be licensed. For some reason I haven't looked into what went on with it since it started, but as a concept it was one of the most original series from last year.
 
Powerful final three episodes.

I haven't heard anything about a release, but holy crap, if there's any justice in the world, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 will get released. I don't care if they have to advertise it akin to a disaster flick (which, technically, it sorta is), I don't care if it's subs only...

If crap like Dragonaut comes out in America and TM8.0 DOESN'T, then I just continue to lose faith in the companies.

This is one of the most emotional stories I've ever watched/read/played. I don't care if it's animated; hell, you could do a live-action adaptation set in California... the story is so damn gut rendering that you just don't feel right after watching it.
