Toggle PowerSDHC On/Off??

I've found no way to temporarily disable PowerSDHC. I've tried renaming it (and doing a reset), and changing the attributes (which caused a reset). The only way to disable it, AFAIK, is to DELETE it.

I'd like to find a way to disable and enable it w/o actually REMOVING it from my device. Removing it means having it available on a non-SDHC card or other device for reinstall. I've also found it possible to BEAM PowerSDHC from my Nokia E71 to my Palm. Both work-arounds do the job, but seem rather inelegant.

WHY do I want to do this? In order to allow occasional use of my WiFi card on my old E2 while keeping it (otherwise) configured to read SDHC cards and remain compatible with cards used on my other systems.

Has anyone a better approach?

the OP would need to test the procedure with the wifi card already installed, and then do the soft reset. it seems to work fine on the TX, in that an SD card is recognized right-off after the soft reset (usually, for the PowerSDHC driver to be active after a soft reset I'll turn off/turn on the TX; can also remove/insert a card in the slot).

a really good way forward, I think, Ixchel; and welcome to rabroad!

Reset your pda with the SD card in it first. That will deactivate the SDHC driver. After the pda reboots, take out the SD card and insert the WIFI card.

this action typically activates the SDHC driver, on my TX. I think that some variant may work, though I'm not sure which...

I think the problem is that the two drivers cannot co-exist even if the SDHC driver is deactivated.

I'm still not sure, given you are talking about using an E71 to beam PowerSDHC, why you don't just use the E71 for wifi stuff. Is the wifi not working or was it stripped out by a carrier?

Good point. I've been trying to see a path to move everything to the E71 for over a year now. If the E71 did all I wanted, I use ONLY that. Alas, it does only MOST of what I want, and the PalmOS does the rest. The E71 is fully functional, does WPA WiFi, BT, IR, , VPN and VoIP. A very nice rig. There remain a few niggling apps (e.g., WorldMate Pro - the non-Palm versions are much less functional) and features that aren't on the E71, or likely to be, as I understand the recent OS announcement by Nokia.

But, I'm chipping away at the list of essentials which will let me pitch my trusty Palm devices and carry a SINGLE device. The frustration with this SDHC bit has at least allowed me to re-categorize a few convergence "essentials" as non-essentials.

Thanks.
