Toei Robot Girls Project

Yeah, I hope this is on the level of GaoGaiGar, in fact I hope this is epic, because I am so stoked to see this show, and yeah I hope there's a Mazin-girl too, because this looks awesome

Gah, this looks like the opposite of epic, unless I call it silly on an epic scale. Trying to fuse the super robot genre with moe and/or the magical girl genre? I'm not sure why a serious fan of old school robots would be pleased. Seems like a gimmicky thing that they're doing because they can.

It might work if it's intended to be an all-out parody, but that's about all really. Personally, I'll just shrug and move on. The appeal is lost on me on all counts, the really old & obscure super robots included.

The 'Mecha Girl' thing's been around for a while, although it didnt hit a breaking point until recently. Look up the Gundam Girl line of artwork.

Otaku like cute girls. Otaku like mecha. Corabine the two and you get a great thing many people like. This looks more like a silly gag series then some of the more serious takes, however. And where's my Getter-Girls?

Right. I actually knew about the mecha Gundam thing, it was the subject of a great (IMO) 2008 April Fool joke that I did. I just rather figured that it would be left to the realm of talented fan artists, as opposed to a legitimate animation studio.

Toei's wannabe Strike Witches. Atleast Strike Witches has some what human character design - the Robot Girls almost look chibi because the proportions are so exaggerated, and rather than looking moe, it looks like a mediocre doujin by a an artist circle that can't draw.

To put it another way, using moe shading/highlights on bobbleheaRAB doesn't work.

There was a Super Dimensional Loli Macross short(s); I've seen it on Youtube a while back but while it was overall tame it does have some brief nudity so I can't post them here.
