Today we had an argument in school?

We talked about the possibility of WW3. And if it broke out, god forbid, we would have to join the army cos we would be called in, this was my idea. This happened in WW2 and it would happen again. I live in UK btw. And two other guys said that no-one would be called in cos people are not so patriotic anymore and we don't like our monarchy anymore so they don't see a point in fighting. I mean WTF? Are they actually listening to themselves. If there was a world wide war the British army would need troops.

What do you think?
 
not every one was drafted in either world war, and your friends are right. yes the the British army would need troops but they would not get them. and many people believe, including Einstein, that WW3 would destroy everything, so troops may not be needs since someone will launch the nukes
 
if the situation across the pond is the same as it is here, there will never be a need to forcefully make people serve in the military again. the US stopped the Draft over 35 years ago and today the military's are overmanned and we are actively looking to get rid of people.

and don't be naive. WW3 has already started..and did so about 10 years ago. the Global War on Terrorism is in full swing.
