$13 trillion.

With about 309 million people living in the U.S., the average American owns a $42,000 piece of debt — and the 110 million taxpayers owe an even larger chunk per person as the debt grows ever larger.

According to the Debt Clock:
• Total national debt: $13 trillion
• Debt per citizen: $42,026
• Debt per taxpayer: $117,982
• Total interest due: $1.9 trillion
• Interest per citizen: $2,211

Negative. There are still a ton of people who "skirt by" income tax for various reasons. The only way to get everyone involved would be to incorporate a consumption-based tax.

That 47% plus the non-working people make up the majority... not paying taxes
Sucks that they can vote to give themselves more of YOUR money

Yeah...

If you can move, go. When the bubble bursts, things aren't going to be good.

i'm paying more than my fair share of the debt in taxes every year. why isn't it going down?
