To Whom It May Concern: My credit report is looking pretty bad.?

I am writing this letter out of pure desperation. I just recently had my credit report pulled by a leasing agent only to find out that I had about fifteen items in collections. I was shocked even through I knew my credit wasn’t the best. My question is: How can I personally on my own have most of these items removed. Do you know of any cover letters that I can send to the major credit reporting agencies to at least start the process?

PLEASE……somebody help a brotha out of this mess I’ve gotten myself in.
