To those who are vegan, when you changed your eating habits did your skin improve?

I am 29 yrs old and I've suffered from acne since I was 12. I have done a lot of research recently on natural ways to combat acne. It would appear a lot of the processed foods and chemicals we consume could be a cause. At this point of my life, I've tried every thing OTC and prescription (even Accutane) and nothing helps me long term. I'm done with dermatologists.

I've been vegetarian off and on for 15 years. I've done a lot of reading about veganism and have considered eating this way. Just curious if anyone can say their skin drastically improved once they cut out all the crap.

Thanks!

When i went vegan my acne just stopped. I used to have bad skin but my birth control pills helped a bit, then cutting out meat/dairy/eggs just made it stop altogether.

You know the easiest way to find this out is to try it. If its something in dairy that's exacerbating your skin condition then you should get results pretty soon.
My sons have eczema and my youngest in particular had terrible weeping legs and would wake in the night crying because of the itchiness. 24 hrs after cutting out ALL milk products he was a million times better. He still gets dry skin but it no longer weeps and gets infected. One thing I will say though is that you have to make sure you cut it all out to see if it works, so no milk, yogurt, cheese, cream and no food with milk powder, whey powder, lactose, and other hidden milk..its in ALOT.
Why not get some recipes together and aim to give it a months trial, then you can objectively decide if it worked or not.

Good luck :)

You said "I've been vegetarian off and on for 15 years" how is that being a vegetarian? That must mean you ate some meat which doesn't make you a vegetarian.

Anyways, to answer your question, ever since I've been a vegetarian I've noticed a huge improvement in my skin.
