why is everyone asking the question"well, the troll is back, why?"
i don't get it. well, my question is, what is the troll. can you guys tell me?

A troll sits around a forum or website like the A&S section of yahoo answers and causes trouble by giving thumbs down for no reason, and reporting questions or answers that don't actually violate any community guidelines. They report these things to Yahoo Answers which causes users to get notifications that they are violating community rules when in reality they are not. This can lead to putting user's profiles in jeopardy of deletion by YA.

I myself have not been targeted by this troll because I am a good little boy however he/she/it seems to be obviously targeting other people. I personally don't believe one single troll can be responsible for the all the abuse I hear of. More likely, there are multiple unrelated trolls who think it's funny to cause trouble.
 
+In answer to your question, there is an individual who frequents the A&S site who (according to some of the more long-term people on A&S) has the goal of ensuring that every person who has the badge of "Top Contributor" gets their account suspended. According to the reports received from the experienced people in A&S, this person has been successful in a number of cases. The latest tactic employed was to flag TC's answers under the "Report Abuse" option causing many TC's to receive violations and lose points. Under Yahoo! policy, if you get enough violations, your account will be suspended. This person and people like him are referred to as "trolls".
