I have a Sony Xplod 12" 1300W subwoofer running off a Sony Xplod 800W amp. I have the amp bridged into one channel... My question is should I port the current speaker box? It is 16x16 and is currently not ported.

I'm not sure if this particular subwoofer lends to being ported. I'd need to see the "TS Params" to tell you that. With the parameters, its easy to build a ported box. However, you can't just poke a hole in a sealed box and call it done. Typically a ported box will be much larger than a sealed box, and require a port of significant length and area. You can get very high sound quality in a properly designed and built ported box - but the majority of (almost every) ported boxes I've heard are either the wrong size, ported way too high, or holding a sub that was much more suited for sealed.

So in your case, I would leave it alone.
