Hi, I've just adopted a black & white 6 month old papillon puppy.
He is a gem. Potty training has been quicky & easy, he LOVES being groomed, even having his little ears checked & cleaned when needed....and he tolerates his pedicures like a little gentleman.
However, his former owner let him play in her coy pond & I don't think she used a good shampoo on him.....his white legs & tummy are slightly discolored....our vet gave us a shampoo to use. ( It is colorless)He's clean now but still has slightly discolored areas. I was wondering should I just wait & let Nature (normal shedding) and shampooing to gradually remove the discolored areas ( I have no trouble doing this) or is there a better shampoo out there for a papillon's coat.
Also, how often should he be bathed? I'm used to springer spaniels and their naturally oily coats. This little guy is a house dog except for his x2 daily walks and play time in the huge grassy common area of our condo development. My Mom suggested every 6 weeks (she had a mini doxie) but I figured a papillon owner would know.
The shampoo the vet gave me is GlenHaven brand: H/S medically formulated hypo-allergenic.
I have absolutely NO intentions of showing this little guy-just want him to look his best.....thanks for all answers.
