I have written a book, and it is in the process of being edited.

Is there any advantage (to the writer) to name the editor of the book by name, within the book?

If the book eventually becomes a best-seller or wins the Pulitzer Prize, the advantage to the editor is obvious, but does your answer change?

If the editor does a good job and is helpful to you and your writing, it would be polite and gracious to mention her or him in the acknowledgments. But there's no advantage to the author in doing so.
