I have heard many of you lowering your C50 or C90, what are the pros and cons to it. I love the look and the cost (heard its only around $40), but I heard of the scraping problem too. What to do, what to do? Let me know everyone thoughts and I would love to see some more pictures of lowered Boulevards! Thanks.:horse:

pro.
good for short people
looks nicer to some
lowers the center of gravity

con
looks worse to some
easier to bottom out over little bumps
can scrape the pegs easier
if the kickstand isn't modified, higher chance of it tipping over.

search the forum... many have lowered their bikes...

With almost any mods like this you I'll say it this way.....you won't know if you like it unless you try. There are adjustable lowering kits available on the market so that if you lower it too much you can raise it up an 1".

If you like the lowered look then go for it. It's as simple as that. If you hate it sell your kit on Ebay.

I think it's a "must do"...if for nothing else than looks. Not everybody scrapes boards or pegs after lowering, but if you scrape now, you'll be worse when it's lower. I have an M and have adjust the suspension so i have never once bottomed out, even riding two up.

Personal preference dude

:plus1:

When lowered mine, I cranked the rear shock preload to the max, like 7 or 8- whichever is the highest setting. It has stayed that way ever since. I weigh 250. I haven't bottomed out and have very rarely scraped a peg. I cruise about half the time and then ride pretty aggressively the other half. I've scrapped the left peg twice and the right peg once. They were both during a hard, fast turn plus some sort of change that compressed the suspension. I never scrape a peg just from turning alone. I feel that if I do then I likely did something wrong- picked the wrong apex, had too much entrance speed, misjudged the turn radius, had to avoid an object in the middle of the turn that I should have seen prior to the entrance, etc., and then the scrape would come as I tried to adjust and "fix" the problem that never should have happened in the first place. Now, anybody can scrape a peg. It just requires movement + leaning. But I feel that on the M50, if you scrape, you either are truly riding the bike to it's maximum capabilities (which I doubt few on here can) or you did something wrong going into or during the turn.

I lowered mine and really like the look and the ride. I lowered it 2 inches so I have not had to worry about it tipping over really. That's more if you lower it 3 inches. you can go from 1 to 3inches. I like the 2 inch kit, some of the tire shows but nothing like it did before. I don't have a problem with scraping the pegs either, it rarely happens to me that is.

I went with the johnskit that I read about on another thread. It was pretty easy to do even by myself. Looks good. I need to start posting some pictures.

Has anyone adjusted there rear shock after lowering? Is it hard? I only weigh about 175lbs and rarely have a passenger and I like the old caddy feeling. Advice??
