i was thinking of enlisting in the army, as an MP, he told me it would take about 4-6months of basic training. then i could be raking in as much as $2,000 every week? (cant remember if he said week or every other week) also while in training. that includes living on base for "free" and i will also get a housing payment of 1800/month. plus "free" health care on the base. Now ive learned that if it sound to good to be true it probably is.I know its his job to get me enlisted in the amy then whatever happens after wards they don'tcare, im just trying to figure out what has he left out when i asked him "what was the catch" he told me there is no catch.

Would like to hear from people with experience with army not from M-N-F-ers that thinks whats going on

First of all, some recruiters LIE. Don't ever forget that. Second of all ALL people of the same rank get the same base pay. Inquire as to what your rank will be when you join. The general pay grade at entry is E1 and you can google what the current pay for that job is. If he is referring to extra pay for MP's I don't know what that is but I would bet that he is talking about hazard pay and extra pay for being deployed. Ask that question specifically. Yes you get "free" health care but it's not free, you earn it. You either get to live for "free" on base in a dorm or barracks OR you get BAH which is housing pay but not both, unless you are deployed then they house you there in whatever and your family back home. BAH is calculated median rent price for your geographic location of where you are stationed. Oh you get BAH while you are in boot camp too I believe. Just whatever you are promised, GET IT IN WRITING. Before you sign the contract. Latly, consider the Air Force or Navy too...they might make you happier. I know many people in the military and usually the people in those services are less angry with their command and service in general. Ask about what jobs offer signing bonuses too.

BAH is determined by rank and location. Also, as a JR enlisted, you will not be granted any BAH unless you are married. You will live in the barracks for a while as a bachelor. Depending on your location, I doubt you will be getting 1,800 for BAH.

If you want $2,000 a week, then you better join as a goddamn General. Someone is lying to you about that.

Healthcare is free for you. You will be sufficiently provided for with health and dental. Your dependents as well, if you are married.

An E1 with under 2 years of service makes 1,399.50 a month.

Try $2000 a month. And yes, there is always a catch. Recruiters are notorious for saying anything to get you to enlist. That aside, Its a very noble job that will help you pay for school and make you a man. Best of all you are serving your country.

It's more like $2000 a month. Yes, you get free housing on post, but not a housing payment as well. It's one or the other, depending on your duty station and family status (married, kids, etc). If You are single with no kids, think college dorm type living in most places.

You do get free healthcare, but keep in mind- you get what you pay for.

The Army can be a good career for many people, but it's not for everyone. I'd get more information and make sure you know what you're committing to. Sounds like you are misinterpretting what the recruiter is saying. Listen and research online. Make sure what he is saying matches up to what goarmy.com says.
