To Do List Alarm Does Not Sound

I have a Tungsten T2. When I set Outlook to give me a reminder of a task, the task alert will go off in windows but not in my handheld. Does anyone know why or at least how to fix it???

This may help in assigning what CONTROLS the alarms; the fact that they sound in Outlook but not on the T is confusing to me but we have a BUNCH of Outlook users on here - perhaps one of them can give you more insight.

In the meantime try this and just "see" if it fixes the problem - worth a try. It is freeware from Freeware Palm.

I'm assuming that you're using Pocket Mirror. There is no alarm field in the Palm to-do list. Because of this, the alarms from Outlook won't transfer to your your to-do list. The built-in Palm to-do list has no alarms so I'm not clear on why you would think alrams would work in any case. Even DateBk5, which does have to-do alarms, the conduits from PM don't transfer to-do alarms, again because there is no alarm field to transfer the information to.

Yes they do if you initiate the alarm mode of Agendus from the handheld and not from Outlook. They will set an alarm in Outlook but Outlook alarms will not be picked up by Agendus after a hotsync.

This is one of the reaons why I usually set all my tasks via the Handheld and allow them to sync into Outlook.

Since I don't have a T2, I don't know about alarms on the T2, but the T3 DOES have alarms. When you enter a task, if you go into details and set a date, the ALARM field is shown and you can now set an alarm. If you set the number of days to 0 (zero), you can set an alarm for "TODAY", or you can set it for x days in advance. You can also specify the "TIME" you want the alarm to be activated.

I haven't tried the "sync" to Outlook, but the quick test I just did on the Palm sets off the alarm.

Yes, I am using Pocket Mirror. I don't use the Palm Desktop and did not know there weren't alarms built into their to do list. Based on that and the fact my Handspring Visor Edge transferred alarms just fine is the reason I figured the alarms in Outlook would sync just fine on my T2.

Kelly,

I don't know what to tell you but I think your memory is faulty on this. Pocket Mirror has never transferred to-do alarms from Outlook to programs like DateBk5 or Agendus that have to-do alarms. The old Handspting line had DateBk+, a cut down version of DateBk3. It had the same issue using Pocket Mirror.

Any of the Palm OS 5.2.8 machines like the T3 would sync alarms because the new Tasks app have an alarm field and the conduit will transfer alarms both ways from Outlook.

Hey Jim,

So are you telling me that there's no way for my Palm T2 to alert me audibly of tasks due? Maybe I should upgrade to T3 if this is the case.

- Kelley

Correct. You can also use DateBk5 or Agendus, both of which have to-do apps with alarms. You just have to remember to set them in Outlook also if you want notification on both places.

Jim, I really appreciate all your answers but wish it was something I wanted to hear. :) Maybe I'll eBay this thing and get the new Treo!!! :)
