To cook fried chicken, do you have to dip the chicken in egg before the flour?

I'm trying to make fried chicken legs and boneless breasts, and I am wondering if you have to put the chicken in eggs before you cover them with the flour mixture?

no you dont 'have' too.
you could put the chicken in there as is.
but it would be better to do it.

milk can be used too instead of eggs.

yes the eggs come first and make the flour stick to the chicken when you roll it in the flour.
if you did it the other way around the flour would clump up

All those answers are WRONG! First, you pat the chicken dry, roll it in flour, then the egg batter, then the bread crumbs, then you fry it.
