TMobile Unlock Request

I read the post and went to the Tmo website and sent in a request to have my BB pearl unlocked on Monday and I have yet to receive an email from them. I will try one more time and see if that doesnt do the trick. I have been a Tmo customer over two years and got my Pearl four months back.

generally takes 24-72 hours to process although on occasion a little longer to get the code if they have to go to the manufacturer. I would call them and see if the unlock has been processed. ( they can look it up) At least then they can give you a heads up or possibly the instructs if the email just did not get to you.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~what are the benifits of having an unlocked vs locked phone. I have heard ppl trying to get unlocked phones just to swich carriers. Is that the only advantage.

The only thing that a subsudy unlock does is make the phone able to use any sim card. This would be helpful mostly in three scenarios. 1) Switching carriers. 2) Traveling out of the country (you can get a local sim and use that and save some money). 3) reselling the phone. ( an unlocked phone is easier to get rid of )

if you havent recieved your unlock code or any information about it, just send me a pm. i'll look at it, and i can resend a request if needed. As long as you have had an active account for at least 90days, in good standing, and currently usnig a t-mobile device

Yeah you can still keep your carrier and have your device unlocked. The only thing unlocking does is allow you to use your device with another carriers sim primarily for overseas travel. But you can get your device unlocked when you want to leave your carrier and keep your device to use with another carrier.

what does this do? would this unlock a diff tpe of phone from a diff carrier? im confused sorry

just read up and seen what it does so lets say i have a ATT phone but tmobile sim i obviously cant call tmobile to unlock that phone right?

Have you ever had too hit the period key twice before hit alt+MEP2 to unlock a device?

These are the instructions that were sent to me from T-mobile:

Thank you for taking the time to contact T-Mobile. Below you will see the Instructions for unlocking your device.
WARNING: Make sure Wireless Mode is turned off before proceeding with the following steps. Failure to do so may result in the device being damaged.
1. Press the Menu key.
2. Scroll to Options and press the trackball.
3. Scroll to Advanced Options and press the trackball.
4. Scroll to SIM Card and press the trackball.
5. Type MEPD.
6. Press the Period key twice.
7. Press and hold the Alt key and type MEP2.
Note: a box will appear asking you to enter the MEP network code
8. Type in the unlock code
Press the enter key or trackball (the device should display "code accepted" if successfully unlocked)

I have entered it exactly 5 times, and I get the code unlock error... I called T-mobile and they sent in a new request, so I am getting a new code...

But I have never had problems unlocking devices, I have done two pearls, two Curves and two 8800's. This is for an 8800...

Any T-MO saavy peeps, care to chime in?

Thanks!
