tmobile phone payment option?

so i just went to a tmobile store, and told them i wanted the phone payment option like it says in the website, but they said it was only web exclusive, yet the site tells you to go to the store and ask for the monthly payment option? were they trying to force me to get the 2 year contract or what? because i wanted the even more plus plan which is the non 2 year contract
