Tmobile hell & Dropping calls w/replacement

Thankfully I only had to exchange my Blackberry once and the unit I got I don't think was a refurb as it was clean, no scratched, no damage, didn't see anything that I would think was a refurb, but, never can tell. That was 4 months ago, my replacement works better then my older one, better signal and sound, then again, I am using Rogers SW version and not TMo's version.
Call em up, tell them the device sucked and demand a replacement be sent to you ASAP at their expense!

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i did read in the tmo replacement policy that I didn't have to send back my original.Iwasnt told that, just told to return it within 7 days or. Pay 400bucks.I've a right to be angry when they have lied to me when I started my contract, telling me they do N0T restrict or block the use of any 3rd party apps. That is false.and to give me an.option to upgrade or cancel, that's quite a messed up way to treat a paying customer.and to have to call them two or more time a day to trouble shoot a defective phone,is a waste of my time and money.I feel as if I'm paying them to learn bb troubleshooting.

Please don't think I'm targeting you, but you have posted quite a bit with dofferent issues with t-mobile and blackberry devices, this is actually going out to every one, and I wish every one can read this. Remember T-mobile is just a service provider, nothing more than that just like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc...There main purpose is to provide a service. The issues that you are having are with the product the RIM has developed. I'm not passing any blame or saying RIM is bad. Just making a few clarifications. Just because there is a problem with the hardware/software of the device doesn't men it 's the provider for they don't make the device. The help choose what they want on there.

In regards to refurbished devices. Every one gets all up in arms about refurbed devices. To be quite honest with you. A refurb device doesn't mean diaster. In some cases it does and in some cases it works better than a brand new device. Remember a refurbed device can be this here: You walk into the the store and purchase a phone. You don't even put your SIM card in, and the seal is broken on the phone and you change your mind right after purchasing, that phone is now considered refurbished. It was never used but it was opened. At my store once that happens the phone is sent to our return center. A device could have been used for a week and the person just didn't like it. They haven't done anything to it but because it was purchased and taken out of the store it's refurbished. Refurb just means like new. It isn't going to be brand new out of the box, but then again what is. I can be very certain that a lot of the devices that we purchase weather its a phone or something else has been tested and used by the developers who make the phone, I'm pretty sure that makes your device a refurbished piece of equipment.

Remeber technology is only as good as the people who make, there is no such thing as a perfect person so there is no such thing as a perfect device.

It honestly that the issue you are having with your device can easily be solved by backing up your device and doing a reload of the software. And rememebr the people who are in tech support with any of the carriers aren't employed by RIM, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung etc...they are employed by the specific carrier. They only know what they are trained on, so they may not be completely familiar with all the devices. So sometimes you may come across someone who isn't as knowledgeable as yourself.

And one last thing....T-mobile doesn't block 3rd party applications. You can modify or do whatever you like to the device that you own however, certain things may vooid your warranty. If you are using a blackberry and on an enterprise server BES, then your company can choose if they want 3rd party applications to be downloaded to your device or not, and if thats the case sometimes if you talk to your IT department they can send you a blank policy which will allow you to download 3rd party applications but it's usually only for about 24hours.

If you have any other questions please let me know...I'll be glad to answer them. Oh and one last thing sometimes remember the problem may not lie with the device it may be the user, there have been numerous of occassions where I thought I was doing it right and turns out I was not even close ad I was getting mad at my carrier and my device and everything....

i understand the user is the problem sometimes.but i followed everything step by step. and about the blocked apps.im talkin about non pdas/smartphones. on my nokia, i can download apps. but when you go to the option to allow access, it is greyed out.restricting the enabling or disabling the app.to run.andthey did troubleshoot it.then sent me another, same thing, blocked. tech support had me call nokia, and nokia said they have nothing to do with it.so icalled tmo back, and they u said they will unlock my nokia and maybe it will help.it didnt.so i use it now for voice calls.sound quality is much better than my bb.thanks to all who have tried to help.and i always remain calm .i actually get a good laugh when hearing ”you must be frustrated ” when speaking to cs.lol

So far knock on wood, my 2nd refurb is holding up. I completely understand the frustrations and demanded a new unit as well. Tmo customer service is good and they try but you will not get a new one. I told them at the store when my refurb comes in and if it is screwed up again I will buy one new from Tmo store and return it the next day with the refurb they sent me. Probably wont work and is unethical but wtf when you pay for a new product and go through the hassles & business disruptions of dealing with this crap they deserve to screwed just like the consumer does!

I believe that when anybody pays for a new BB, then has to return it because it's defective the consumer should get a _New_ BB in return.

Refurbished units are unacceptable in this case. Period.

Next, it's important for everyone to know that it's the carriers that have this policy of using refurbs. Not RIM. So if you are unhappy it is not just your carrier but all of them, as this is a blanket policy they have all adapted for just one reason.

Greed.

Therefore it is what it is. Like it or not. And believe me I do _not_ like it.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~lol tmo. Send me an old bb pearl 8100 and sign me up another 6months.now I gotta find someone who I can sell it to for 300bucks.then ill get my nokia.and lol at "you must be frustrated" from cs.trying so hard to break you and get more money from you.

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~the exchange policy is put in place to help ease cost and frustration... Believe it or not if the carrier did not have the exchange policy then you would have to go through the manufacture meaning this- you send them your phone it takes weeks sometimes months to repair then they send it back to you you go that time without a phone they do not reimburse you for the time without phone or service- for data devices if they find 3rd party apps they still fix your phone but since the warranty is voided they charge you for the repair which could cost you more than t-mobiles out of warranty fee
Johnny's right about refurbs most cases they are just ones that were opened in store and since the seal was popped they have to send to the warehouse
Also the chances of having the same exact problem with a brand new phone is there as well so all new phones would not solve the problem you're brand new phone had issues right? Otherwise you wouldn't have done the exchange
The cost of providing all brandnew phones to everyone would drive the cost of everything rate palns features phones you name it and if that was the case what would keep people at the end of the warranty to do an exchane just so they can get a brand new phone because they don't want there's to be older?

Ok that's my two cents

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~understood.but point is ya buy something new and sign up for an extra year.something goes wrong with the NEW bb. Send me a NEW one or remove the extra year I signed up for as part of the deal of getting a NEW bb.the extra year I signed for would come to about 1080 dollars.which I feel is more than enough money payed,to have them send me a new phone.and they have not credited me for about 3 months of my bb,s working (sometimes) if at all.and honestly,to offer me a tmo Dash as an exchange for a bb curve,is like asking me if I would give a nokia N95 for a moto razor.that's in no way a fair or equal exchange in any way.and having consideration for a customer who pays early, and is always extremley patient with them.should mean something as well.

To clarify a few points I've read about in the posts above.

1) Federal law states that a product that is opened & then returned (even if it never leaves the store) does not change it's status to a refurbished unit. For confirmation, look up the meaning of the word refurbished.
A returned unit is a returned unit, period. To be re-classified as refurbished it must go through the actual process of being refurbished, tested, then repackaged.

2) If the carrier replaced a defective BB with a new one within the first 30 days, it would _not_ raise the cost. The reason is that the actual cost to the carrier for brand new units is very low. The pofit margin being very high, is more than enough to offset handling expenses. In turn just think of the customer goodwill it would generate!

Once again I remind everyone that these are the carriers policies designed for the sole purpose of maximising the amount of profit the carrier retains. And the carriers are working in unison, therefore whenever any carrier changes policy, the first to know is their competition who then takes similar action. This is not speculation, its actually how they operate. After all, they have shareholders to satisfy. These same carriers did not grow to the large scale enterpirses they are today by doing anything less than squeezing the customer for every last cent they could extract from each & every transaction.

Just think: some carriers are now charging a $36.00 "activation fee" to new customers when buying a phone & "activating" an account. Do you think it really costs the carrier anywhere near that? Of course not. In the case of existing customers, to add a line one must also pay the "activation fee". This is pure profit people! Still don't believe? Try reading the companies annual report. It's all there in living color. They are getting very rich, & we are supplying the profit. Don't like it? Stop buying from them. It's their rules (policies) their ballpark, and their call. It is what it is.

Step back ten paces, relax & just enjoy your phone. Remember it could be worse, and it's only a phone.

Cheers!

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~ok. Easy to enjoy a phone when it works.and refurb I understand the meaning.guess I mean USED or not new.as I purchased.in the box, sealed, unopended.not touched.value is decreased on things that are used.and true,if ya not happy with service, move to another or leave.but I do need a phone.and coverage is another factor.and cost and all.in two years I'd be paying a lil over 2000 dollars.that in itself should cover costs and whatnot.plus the 90 dollars in gas to return the phones.lol and above all this.I'm still trying to get the best out of this service, yet its not been so great for me.again thanks much to all for ur points and comments.
