My curve (new Sept 07) just went out due to bad usb port on phone. Tmobile sent me a refurbished unit as a replacement though I begged for a new one. The refurb is worse than my original. It drops calls constantly then reboots after about 1 minute. This happened immediately after setting up refurb phone. I called Tmo they have to recieve the old one back first then open a new ticket to replace this one and send another one (refurb).

Anyone go through this with your carriers? When I had Palm products it was potluck on getting a decent replacement. They always sent you refurbs too. The Treo 750 was the worst that is why I changed over.

I hate that greedy type business. Your brand new unit breaks due to poor build you should get a new unit... Not a used one. I'd be sending that crap back after calling them and *talking* about it.

First I had tmo -- their coverage sucked.

Then I had verizon -- expensive as hell, but good coverage. For price of single, I got a family with tmo, so went back to them.

Theb I had a bog bulky nextel phone and that died after 2.8 hrs of talk time.

After that I had 2 troes (650 and 700) with sprint...loved 700 but didn't like sprints dropped calls.

After that had cingular with blackjack and iphone. Hated how they claim 5 bars over 85 percent of the USA and in areas with bright orange I got only 1 bar. And in areas with 4-5 bars, when I turned 180 it would go to 1-2 bars.

Finally back to tmo. Love their city coverage, their relatively cheaper plans, and their amazing customer support.Never switching again. Just wish they had an unlimited calls plan.

they will.... everyone will eventually...love tmo too! verizon sucks your money!

tmo does that often...I work at a reseller and I havent heard of a situation yet where they've provided you w/ a new unit. My BB when i first got radomly stop working...screen was jus blank...it would turn on but nothing show up on the screen.

They sent a refurb thankfully its been working great for me so I would suggest unfortunately sending that one back in and hoping for a better one

also as far as the coverage is concerned...I'm originally from NY but spend a lot of time in PA where coverage sucks but since the building has wi-fi I use that and I dont have a problem with service at all

im on my 3rd replacement in under 2 months, did trouble shooting over n over. they gave me the option to replace it with an 8800 or a tmo dash. or upgrade an pay for a phone. they refuse to give me a new curve. im about done with tmo. and defective refurbs.

i have the same problems with 8100 just got a replacements thursday but i am about to call and have them send another 1 because like you said this one is even worse i want them to send me a new phone.. bc my first phone was still new and i didnt have it that long.. I hate tmobile right now!!! lol.. & i hate TROUBLESHOOTING when it doesnt fix the pronlems just waste my time!!!

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~i spoke with every department from bb tech 1 to 3,hotspot,super.manager,cancelations.I get uncaught exceptions, and some other errors.they said my desktop was corrupted, yet I told em the other 2 replacements worked with it.so they transfered me to rim,rim gave me option to troublshoot with there xperts,or for.me to call tmo back.I do NOT want to troubleshootanother bb again.Ishould not have to.its extremly unprofessional how theve treated me.I signed an.extra year and payed about 800 in the last 6months.plus I gott pay another 10 for ups to pick up the replacement.I'm.discusted with. Tmobile.

Don't give up and get resolved and stick to it. They want you to just give up. Don't. Ask if you can talk to an offline team or I have an email address for Robert Dotson. He has a twelve member offline team that there only job is to handle problems like your own. That is how I got a new Curve after having only having mine for three weeks and they sent me one that literally looked like it had been thrown off a bus. PM me if you want the email.

Every carrier has the same basic warranty terms which is oulined in your contract. It has nothing to do with the brand or model of phone. Furthermore this standard was established years ago on many consumer electronics devices, not just phones. That policy is to replace a phone that's within the warranty period with a refurbished unit. I do not like it anymore than than others here, but it's a fact of life. If you try to get a new phone they will cite the policy & send you a refurb. However like anything else there are always exceptions & once in awhile a customer gets a new unit. It's all dependent on who you are talking to. Bottom line you are wasting your time being angry with your carrier.

Now, that said, if you get a refurb that you find damaged, you have every right to demand another & they are obligated to exchange it for you.
