i have a pearl and the speaker is no longer working. i have read up on this defect and have learned that it is something that occurs in many phones. i DO NOT want to deal with this problem because it is hurting my productivity. I am over the two week period but I want to exchange the phone for a 8700g because i know they are stable. will they make me just get another pearl or is they a way to convince them otherwise?

Well, you could just remove the battery for 15 seconds to get your speaker working.

Also, make sure you have the latest t-mobile os for your blackberry.

As long as its only like a day or two past the return date, TMO will be nice to you if you beg and ask for an exception because you're unhappy.

well there is also the software upgrade that you can do. that will solve the problem permanantely. the site you want to go to is www.t-mobile.com/bbugrade and upgrade it from there. Removing the battery is only a temporary fix. Just so you know the reason why that happens is because the way the software that RIM put on the phones was designed so that when the phone rings, fi you move the "pearl" it would mute the call, which is why RIM released a software upgrade. If not you can get an exchange. Also if you are in the state of California you get 30 days not 14, per the California Bill of Rights

Ihad the same problem with my pearl, and I had no luck fixing it with the battery trick or the OS upgrade. Ended up calling T-MO and getting a new phone. Too bad you're over your limit..

Well if it was on amazon.com you have 30 days but if it was via tmobile.com 1800 tmobile or customer care OR a store you, only have 14 days not 20 ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
