I'm in the middle of a one year T-mobile contract right in central Texas. I have no real reason to change carriers or plans. I'm very satisfied overall with the signal around town and my current pricing structure. I know jack about the latest cell phones since I have not had any reason to shop around in the past few years. The keypad on my Nokia 6010 is starting to stick and I'm wanting to upgrade to something more slim/thin with a decent camera built into it. I never have a camera on me when I need one! I was hoping to score a gently used T-mobile compatible camera phone from an auction or via the local craigslist site.
I want to keep my current Nokia 6010 as a backup phone (with a recent copy of my SIM card in it) so if I lose the new cell or it doesn't work out for me I can just switch on the old phone and be back up and running. Like many of you my cell phone number and service is not something I can live without for very long. I have seen a SIM cloning device for sale locally so I know it's possible to clone the SIM cards. I'm unsure how many different types of SIM cards are out there and what they will fit into though.
I just want a "slim" or "thin" model with a one mega pixel or better camera and some kind of memory card slot so I can take pictures and then pop out the memory card and put it into my home PC. The idea is that I could bring an extra cell battery (which I always do anyways) and some extra memory cards so I can take a ton of pics while I am out and about.
I don't have any data plan and I do not intend to purchase one, maybe on the next contract? I really don't want to contact T-mobile or change my plan in order to get a newer phone. I fear that any modifications to my account will somehow mess up their flawless billing history. I always hear horror stories "oh I upgraded and my bill was all jacked up..." but I don't know if they were Tmobile customers. I deal with T-mobile via their website whenever possible.
I'm also wondering if T-mobile is going to have a cow when a different phone starts using their network with my SIM inside it. I would think not but wanted to ask. I doubt I need to notify them, but I'm a complete newbie so here I am asking.
Many thanks in advance to those who reply
