Tmobile and 3G

3g has been 'near' for a while now, just not 'here'.

we'll see if RIM decides to add the 1700 or not. you have to wonder if assurances from Tmobile will carry much weight with them, especially when ATT already has an up and running 3g network and and has the money to aim for a more exclusive deal.

While att may already have a 3g network it is not true 3g as offered elsewhere in the world and it is only available in select cities where as tmobile will be upgrading the entire wireless network to support the 3g functionality.

you're trying to compare a nonexistant network, that only has its own claims to back it up, with a network that is actually up, fully functional and ready to launch the 9xxx whenever RIM is? maybe you should wait until it actually launches before making a comparisson? just a thought.

Yeah I have heard that the utms network will be out for t month September of next year, of couse this is after they said they would have it out end of this year. Damn feds!~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

well w've jsut released the t-mobile samsung t639....it's been released in a few markets and it does support the umts service, so when it launches those customers with that device will be the first to use it, of course pleaces like miami and new york will carry those phones. i know they have it in texas and a few other larger markets

I don't think the release of a 3G handset is saying much. Consider the HTC Mogul for Sprint. In some future that is undetermined it can be upgraded to Rev. A which is quite the upgrade for CDMA users especially on those upload speeds. But that doesn't make the current use any better. I would have to say wait till its actually up and running before we get all fired up about it. Particularly with both at&t and Verizon working on 4G in the next few years it could be that long before T-Mobile even gets their 3G going. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~
