This is driving me crazy!! My trackwheel on my 8700g is starting to act up. If I roll it down it will go both up and down, The likewise if I roll it up, it will go both down and up. My question is, will the warrenty cover this problem? Also If there are any TMO employees from Philly, send me a PM! Grazie

tmobile is very good with warranty exchange. I had a pearl with a trackball problem. Called blackberry support at tmo and they ups a phone in 2 days. Gave me 1 week to send old one back and it did cost me 10 dollars but was worth it. I would really recommend that you stay with Tmobile as I have been with Verizon last month on a 30 day test drive great coverage but a little pricy. And DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO GO WITH SPRINT UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING PLACED ON HOLD FOR 50-75 MINUTES AT AT TIME. I am serious about Sprint. If you want to become a new customer you will get through in 2-3 min. Any other help and you will be left on hold, you will start to convulse and drool. You will forget why you called them in the first place. You will probably lose your job and you wife or husband. As you can tell I am pissed at Sprint. My friend who has Nextel told me not to mess with them. But no I just had to try them. Do yourself a favor stay with TMO or try Verizon. Don't mess with Sprint YOU WILL REGRET IT. sorry about your phone but it will be OK.

just to verify take the back cover off there should be a white sticker on there, if its red then theres been liquid damage and the warranty is vooided. if it's white then it's no big deal. if you've had your device for longer than a year than you warranty has expired, if it's under a eyear then we are still in business. i've sen that happen a couple of times with the 8700g,it's a warranty issue they'll send ou out a replacement device.

I also want get a new phone because the clip that holds the battery door fell off. Do you think that is covered?
First I'll have to downgrade os.

as jonnyxedge noted, TMo is excellent at warranty coverage - I've found it even better when purchasing the phone in person at a corporate store (as opposed to a mall franchise). Essentially, as long as you've had the phone less than a year, there are no visible cracks (e.g., from a fall) and the moisture indicator hasn't changed color, the corporate store will simply replace your phone on the spot (they've done this for me and a friend as well - took all of 10 mins).

Re: the replacement battery cover / retainer for the pearl: have you searched online? you might be able to get a replacement housing, complete pretty inexpensively by now...
