I heard a rumor that T-Mobile was buying Sprint/Nextel I asked a Tmo employee and he confirmed it was a done deal as soon as it is approved. Is there any truth to this?

That would be a good acquisition for TMO as far as technology but I don't see how it would benefit them financially. They will not gain the customer base that will turn enough revenue to make the margin even equal to dollars spent for quite some time. IMO

Tmo getting sprint/nextel? hmm... i guess it would be a good/bad acquisition ... good because new phones= new technology, better phones, we will see new tmo phones frequently!

bad well because we have all heard the news about sprint/nextel and how that merge was bad financially...

This is only a rumor at this point. Merrill Lynch forcasted that this year TMO would buy out Sprint/Nextel. It was a prediction only. At last look Tmobile had not even spoken about this type of acquisition.

well ... if T-mobile is going to have better coverage with service and all , cause where i live, its not TOO good ... ya know?

I haven't seen anything for that rumor being set in stone. One of our engineers was joking about it. But he did seem serious about the issue. If that does happen there could be a few scenarios that could happen.
T-mobile would remain t-mobile and sprint would remain sprint and Deutsche Telekom (DT our parent company)would own both companies.
Or DT could purchase Sprint and sell t-mobile to another provider.
Or the third scenario would be we would purchase sprint and make it all t-mobile gaining the wimax and having a very strong mobile broadband network. And could push us up very close to the number 1 and 2 carriers for customer base. (Verizon and AT&T).

I'm a little anxious to know what will happen. Plus I've been trying to get my wife's family to switch for a couple of years now. It would be quite humorous to me if there service provider was purchased by my service provider. ~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

From what I have heard throw my sources this is just a rumor and nothing more. Tmobile could not afford the cost to run the sprint/nextel network(it cost about 1 billion for each network each year). This just what I have heard from sources from both companys that I know people who are pretty into the knows of what's going on.
