TMNT Talkback: Episode 5.01: "Lap of the Gods" (Spoilers)

Well, pretty much a virgin to the new TMNT (I haven't watched an ep of the show since the beginning, which left me off as dissatisfied, but after hearing non-stop praise for the show left and right, I've decided to try it again, but before I buy the DVDs, I have to know if it's worth the venture), the ep started off as confusing and slow, at least to me. I guess a lack of pre-exsisting knowledge would lead to this. But, the ep picked itself up when Splinter and the villain the Turtles are bound to fight off later on appeared. Personally, I want to see more of Mikey and Ralph in the eps to come. I've always liked them the best.

I'm not in love with this show yet, but I'm certainly tuning in next week.

Yeah, this season isn't exactly the best to start off on since it'll be very confusing to people who didn't see the previous seasons leading up to this.

Season 1 and 3 are generally considered the best seasons of the show, and its easier to get into them as a starting point. I like all the seasons though, but I can see why it would be confusing since the show is rather continuity heavy.

Darklordavaitor, like CyberCubed mentioned, you're probably better off watching the previous seasons beforehand. And if you don't want to invest money in the DVDs, 4Kids puts the episodes up on their video player for free streaming. They've uploaded all of season one and are almost done with season two (two new episodes are added to the site every Thursday), so you definitely should give that a look if you have the chance.

Show of hands everybody, who saw the 'it was just an illusion' thing coming?

As soon as they mentioned that whole 'perception' pseudo-mystic stuff I knew it was bound to happen. As soon as the attack itself begun I KNEW it was this episode they'd do it.

When the Tribunal got captured I got my confirmation.

Anyway I agree that it was a bit boring considering its just one long set-up piece. The designs of the Tribunal was just sweet if you ask me.

You're 5 years late to the part, my friend. I recommend watching the first three eps from Season One. It's an unofficial trilogy (the Mouser arc), which introduces the TMNT, Master Splinter, April, Baxter Stockman, Oroku Saki, the Foot, and Hun.
