Season 7, Episode 10

"The Turtles leave Cyberspace to find everything very… normal. But, as this normalcy starts to unravel, the TMNT realize they’re still in Cyberspace, and the Shredder is tricking them into showing him exactly how to build a portal that will allow him to enter into the real world!"

I thought that this was one of the best episodes of the season. Probably my second favorite after "Tempus Fugit." I was able to figure out pretty easily that this wasn't reality, especially when Casey's voice came out of April. It kinda felt like a cheaper version of the "Bad Day" episode. But overall, a pretty good episode. Compared to episodes from the first five seasons, I'd probably give this episode 3/5 stars. But given the lower standards of the Fast Forward and BTTS episodes, I'll give it 4/5 stars.

It was a good episode.

April standing there as the truck blew up on her was pretty awesome, even though we knew it wasn't real.

Episode 7.10 Virtual Reality Check
Original air date: Nov 22, 2008

Now we can properly discuss it.

I might watch it when it's on tomorrow*, but I still haven't seen the previous episode yet...

* - Before anyone corrects this, Back to the Sewers aired on Sunday mornings at 8 here ever since the time slot change.

Anyone else notice "April's" Kill Bill outfit from TMNT? The one she wore when she, Casey, Raph, Mike, Don, and Splinter stormed Winters' building and confronted the Foot.

This felt a lot like that one season 4 ep where everyone the turtles cared about was seemingly destroyed, only to find out later that it wasn't real. Pretty amusing.

The previous episode with all those mutant animals that Cyber Shredder let loose on the city was also very similar to Season 4's Mutant outbreak.

There are some re-used plots this season, just with a cyber theme.

I liked this episode a lot actually. Definitely a return to form over last week. It's a reused plotline (you could argue for more than once in this series) but hey, it was still good and it actually advanced the plot. Cyber Shredder is outta there and hopefully they stay outside the cyber world for the rest of the series - except of course to complete Splinter.

Honestly though I'm not just tired of the cyber world, but Cyber Shredder too. They should have diversified the villain usage here a bit. Khan was great in "Karate Schooled" but he's been kind of irrelevant since, and Hun's been kind of unimportant too. Too many Cyber Shredder fights have happened already that it's taken a lot of my interest out of seeing their final confrontation.

Well you have to remember that FF only had 1 Shredder episode, so technically there was a long 25 episode gap with no Shredder.

The only reason it doesn't feel that way is because 4kids aired Season 5 after FF, so it feels like Shredder was around more recently than he should be.

They kinda did when Donnie mutated at the end of season 4.

I was kind of disappointed in the Cyber-Shredder fight. I mean, did you see how they kicked him through, like, five buildings like some sort of DBZ move? That was awesome. Being in the cyber world gave them an awesome opportunity to crank up the action level to 11 while keeping it in a realistic-looking setting. Major missed opportunity there.

This reminds me of how the second half of Fast Forward was salvaged: they just keep things moving fast enough to keep the audience from dozing off. Not bad at all.
