TMNT: Back to the Sewers Pre-talkback

When a LOT of those hardcore comic book fans make up the majority of the TV watching population thier opinions will matter beyond the hardcore comic book fandom. I am sorry, but like I said before most people do not care about cartoon bigotry and just want entertainment.
 
I very much doubt it. Mirage is working to get a new live-action movie with CGI Turtles for debut sometime in 2011, why wouldn't 4kids want to keep the show going to bank on the merchandize from the movie?
 
Although I hope that this 13 episode season is only part one. Just like Fast forward was supposedly 13, and later another 13 was considered part 2..
 
The show will probably be around for another year or two...but beyond that, it's uncertain. TMNT has always been leading 4Kids TV in the past, but it's come to the point where 4Kids has a good amount of shows that do as good or better than TMNT. And it doesn't really help that the sales of TMNT merchandise have gone down substantially.

As for the 2007 movie, yes, it did boost merchandising sales, but I don't think that they were as high as 4Kids had hoped. 4Kids won't keep the series around for three years just because there's a movie that might not even happen.

The performance of Back to the Sewers will likely have a key role in determining the future of the show.
 
Am I the only one that no longer seems to care about TMNT? I was really let down with The Ninja Tribunal since it really did not live up to the wait they made us go through, and I will not even talk about Fast Forward. Not to mention Bishop seemed to have changed his body just out fo the blue, and Han's voice altered. To be honest, those designs seem more child friendly and less Eastman/Laird. I guess if it is not on at the same time as Transformers, Spider-Man, or Ben 10, I may give it a watch, but I just don't feel anything for those designs. How many years after the Tribunal stuff is this going to take place?
 
Um, I think the show will continue for at least another couple of seasons if Laird is really that serious about the new series surpassing the original's episode length.

Although what I am afraid of is if it does come to that point, by the time the 200th episode airs, the show will just be a shell (no pun intended) of its former self.

Let's face it. The show has already fully crossed the road from comic territory into toy gimmick territory and it ain't going back. :(
 
When they said the animation was going to be cheaper than fast forward I was scared as hell but now I'am relieved. It looks good. :)
 
agreed. On the IPod sized screen it actually looked more detailed than fast forward.....but I'd need to see it on the big screen before making any snap judgments. They do have anime-ish eyes, though.
 
The strange thing is that, if the chronology of the show really does go by a "one season = one year" rule, she should be in her late 20's-early 30's by now. :sweat:
 
I'm not sure yet. I didn't like Fast Forward, but this isnt what I mean when I said that I wanted the Ninja Turtles to go 'back'. When I said back, I meant 2K3 everything back.

That show rocked. The more I see of what's coming the more unsure I'm becoming. I don't know about everyone else around here, but I don't watch a show just because it came form something that I used to watch. Yes, the ties are there and I like ties, but if it leaves what made the old series so great, then it will be over for me, and I'll give the show and Laird the Kudos for such a great run that got someone like me to pay attention and capture my imagination.

I just hope it doesn't go that way. It's over 117 episodes, yet it still feels so short, and there are just way too many questions that haven't been answered.



That's what I'm hoping isn't the case, but from what we're seeing and hearing is going on with this show, it really possible to just 'go back'? It's almost heading full throttle into... well, whatever it is we're getting.

But yet again, I can't make any guarantees. We has still seen anything on TV itself... but they have done a good job of making me have my doubts.
